Maria Elena (M.E.) is very excited to be working on her first Spanish language song with Latin Grammy winning producer Sebastian de Peyrecave. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in ’04 Sebastian moved to Miami to work with one of the industry’s top latin songwriters and producers. He got his first credits on albums by artists such as Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez, Thalia & Chayanne.
He become a freelance producer and mix engineer and has worked on albums by Chris Cornell, Reamonn, Alejandro Sanz, and Kany Garcia. This last album was the recipient in 2013 of the Latin Grammy for “Best Engineered album” as well as being nominated in the Grammys in the “Best Latin Pop Album” category.
Maria Elena is a 16 year old singer-songwriter with an Ecuadorian mother and American father. Due in part to an international childhood, she grew up in Europe and Asia, she doesn’t limit herself to one genre of music. Her music so far has included elements of pop, indie, folk, latin-pop and even a hint of country. What is constant is the touch of ‘indie’ in her voice and a well-crafted lyric. María Elena is bi-lingual in English and Spanish and speaks quite a lot of Chinese. She just released her first Spanish song ‘La Verdad’ with Latin Grammy winning producer Sebastian de Peyrecave. Maria Elena is very excited to be working with accomplished music producers Jared Anderson of Evergreen Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, Matthew Tryba in Denver, Colorado and Aubrey Whitfield in London, England. Matthew worked for Ryan Tedder and One Republic for three years, was an Assistant on Taylor Swift’s 1989 album, and has also worked with Ariana Grande, Maroon 5 and The Fray. Maria Elena began her journey as a singer/songwriter at the age of 13 and has been writing with passion ever since. She is releasing her debut album “M.E.” (sounds like Emmy for her family nickname) one song per month.
